The Surveying expedition will be held on a privately owned farm approximately 15 minutes from the centre of Ballarat. There is a hardware store 10 minutes from the farm and a Bunnings approx 25 minutes away. Other close by amenities include a Coles (10 mins), Safeway (13 mins), Hospital (15 minutes), McDonalds (13 mins), petrol station (12 mins) and various accommodation options within a 20 minute radius.
On-site there will be separate space for period and non-period campsites.
All cooking will be done using period camp cooking methods and you will be asked to volunteer a small portion of your time to assist with cooking, clean up or serving. If the weekend falls on a day of Total Fireban alternative cooking arrangements will be made.
There will be primitive camp wash rooms on site, with hot water available to fill them. The dam is not suitable for swimming.
Portaloos and/or composting toilets will be positioned as discreetly as possible.
The farmhouse is situated a very sort walk from the site and can be used for emergency purposes or to recharge electrical equipment.
There will be a central marquee for dining and social purposes and a central campfire available for sitting around in the evening once it is no longer needed for cooking purposes. Individual campfires are not permitted. There will be a Beer garden postioned in the shade of the pine trees.
The local flora will be in seed at this time and seating will be a haybale and timber arrangement. If you have allergies please remember your medication.
